On books and writing:
I’ve loved to read since before I can remember. My tastes have gone through many phases: hard sci-fi, legal thrillers, chick lit, high fantasy, paranormal romance, horror…you name it, I’ve read it, and can name at least one book I loved in it. My current love is YA of all sorts, but an adult or middle grade title will still slip in there sometimes when I get a hankering.
I also write YA books. No, you can’t read them. At least not now. I’m still working on that part. Trust me, if my books ever make it out into the world, you’ll hear me screaming it from the rooftops.
What kind of books do I write? The kind I’d like to read. Which, if you’ll look above, could be pretty much anything. The common thread is probably family, because I think the world could use more strong family relationships. And if there can be explosions or sword fights or aliens or time travel or dragons…so much the better. (No, I have not written anything that contains all of those things…yet.)
I’m married to an awesome guy who happens to be my best friend. He has a job making the Internet a happier place for humans everywhere. And fairy creatures too, if they are so inclined to use the Internet.
I have two beautiful daughters who think they are fairy princesses, or My Little Ponies, or members of The Avengers (Iron Man and Captain America, in case you were curious). Sometimes all of the above, simultaneously, which results in some pretty interesting role playing.
I hold a degree in Instrumental and Choral Music Education, which I used for a whopping one semester before I realized that I was not cut out to be a high school music teacher. At. All. For all you teachers out there, you have my utmost respect. It’s a hard gig. I appreciate you. These days, my main outlet for music is singing with my husband (and occasionally our kids, if they manage to finagle a microphone) on the praise team at church every week. And it’s enough.
We live in Nashville, TN, and it is awesome. You should come visit.
