Feature & Follow #93: Fictional Character Smackdown!

Feature & Follow Friday is a weekly blog hop hosted by Parajunkee’s View and Alison Can Read. Each week, they’ll pick one blogger to feature, and it’s also a great way to discover new blogs and gain new followers. I’m excited to be participating this week, and can’t wait to discover some new blogs!

If you’re participating in the hop, I’d love it if you could follow me via the Linky Connect link in my sidebar, or you can sign up to follow me via email. I’d also really appreciate it if you’d leave a comment to let me know you were here. I’m still new to all this, so I want to know who’s out there in the blogosphere!

Thanks everyone! I look forward to “meeting” all of you!

So, moving on to this week’s question:

Q: Fight! Fight! If you could have two fictional characters battle it out (preferably from books), who would they be and who do you think would win?

Okay. This may be because one of my kids woke up crying for no reason, then I remembered I forgot to load the dishwasher last night, and then there was a bug on my coffee maker.

Needless to say, I woke up snarky this morning.

Anyway, I would like to have Bella Swan (Twilight) battle Hermione Granger (Harry Potter). And no, Edward is not allowed to save Bella.

Hermione would win. Duh. She would trounce her. Even if 11-year-old Sorcerer’s Stone Hermione was fighting 18-year-old vampire Bella, Hermione would win. Why? Because Hermione is resourceful, intelligent, and downright scrappy if need be. Oh, and also she knows magic. Lots of magic.

So yeah. I think what would make me happy this morning is a good smackdown of someone who needs a good smackdown, and Bella definitely could use one.

But Hermione is kind and fair, and she’d want to adhere to the rules of proper deuling (especially 11-year-old Hermione), so she wouldn’t leave Bella bruised and bleeding (well….maybe bruised). She’d just teach her a lesson about standing up for herself, even if you don’t have the boy you want, and how whining and moping isn’t the answer.

Then she’d probably help her up. Because Hermione is cool like that.

  1. Oh my god, it wouldn’t even be fair.. ^^’ Even if Hermione didn’t have magic, she’s till kick Bella’s ass. And just like you said, at the end of the fight, Bella would’ve learnt a great deal from our dear Hermione.

Here’s my Feature & Follow too, if you’d like to check it out ^^

    • That’s why I put her up against Hermione. She would stop as soon as Bella had learned her lesson, so Bella wouldn’t actually suffer any serious damage. A REALLY unfair fight would be Bella vs Voldemort. (It would also be over really, really fast).

  2. Yes! Then, Hermione could talk to Bella about making herself useful while separated from her one true love – doing things like hunting for Horcruxes and battling Death Eaters while on the run with the most wanted person in the Wizarding World. Much better than driving around on a motorcycle and jumping off of cliffs.

    • Exactly! No one ever gives Hermione enough credit for picking herself up, dusting herself off, and continuing to help Harry after Ron leaves. Probably because Hermione has been tough, loyal and determined since she was 11.

  3. Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yes, Hermione vs. Bella. That is nice. Buffy verses Bella would be extreme, but I’d grab popcorn for that too.

    • Buffy vs. Bella — now THAT would be unfair. Hermione would show restraint and play by the rules, but Buffy…I can’t see her and Bella getting along. And Buffy is kind of punchy with people she doesn’t like.

Buffy vs. Edward on the other hand…that would be fun.

    • Both of your comments went through. I’ve been having issues with WP today too. I went ahead and just put this one through, though, to avoid duplicates.

Yes, I agree, Hermione wouldn’t hurt Bella. But there would probably be some petrificus totalus or wingardium leviosa-ing going on until Bella cried uncle though. Especially if Bella had her vampire powers when they were dueling (Hermione probably wouldn’t want to duel an unarmed Muggle).

  4. LOL! Poor Bella. I think it would be a little better if it was post-transformation Bella. At least with vampire powers she would have someway to defend herself. I still think Hermione would win.

    Thanks for stopping by.

  5. Aww, everyone’s wanting Bella to get hurt. 😀
But I do agree, Hermione would probably go easier on her and teach her a lesson or two. Loved your answer!

  6. The idea of Hermonie giving Bella a good smackdown really made me laugh! I agree, she really needs to be taking down a peg or two by someone with a few more resources.

    New follower 🙂

  7. Awesome response! I love that Hermione would be the better person in all this and not hurt the completely incapable Bella – totally what she’d do. Brilliant answer!

I had Bella on my FF this week too 😉

    New Follower BTW!
