Top Ten Tuesday (August 21) – Best Books Since I’ve Been Blogging

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by our friends over at The Broke and the Bookish! And a special congratulations to one of their contributors, Jamie, who got married last weekend! Huzzah!

Today’s topic is actually pretty easy for me, since I’ve only been blogging about five months and therefore don’t have hundreds of books to pick from. For those of you who have been at this for years, you have my sympathies.

So here’s tonight’s topic:

Top Ten Favorite Books You’ve Read During The Lifespan Of Your Blog

With the exception of the first two (which will link to Amazon because I haven’t posted my reviews yet), I’ll just link the title to my review of each book. Because if I had to summarize what I loved about each of these in just a sentence or two, they’d all say the same thing (“THIS BOOK IS AWESOME”) and it would get boring.

Crown of Embers by Rae Carson

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

Defiance by C.J. Redwine

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

The Selection by Kiera Cass

The Maze Runner by James Dashner

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Timepiece by Myra McEntire

The False Prince by Jennifer Nielsen

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

And let me just say, I’m glad I started this blog and discovered so many other fantastic blogs, because if I hadn’t, I probably wouldn’t have read any of these, much less conversed merrily with several of these lovely authors on Twitter and even met two of them in person.

LET’S ALL CELEBRATE BLOGGING.

  1. James Van Der Memes?! No waaay! That is amazing!

On a different note, loved most of these. Except the selection! It totally didn’t do it for me. But what I have to extra agree with you on is the wonderful way in which blogging introduces you to new titles. It’s pretty much my favorite thing. (oh and blogging = wonderful other BLOGGERS!)

  2. Ok, James Van Der Memes is pretty much the best thing I’ve ever seen. No joke.
And I agree with you about blogging, I’ve found some pretty great books I otherwise would have no idea about had it not been for all the wonderful book blogs out there.
I’ve only read half of the books on your list but I’m pretty sure the other half are already on my TBR list, so nicely done! I’m most looking forward to Defiance and The False Prince.
    Thanks for sharing 🙂

  3. I’ve only read two of the books you listed—THE BOOK THIEF and THE MAZE RUNNER. The former is one of my all-time favorites and I thought the latter was entertaining, even though the writing was just so-so. There are several on your list I’ve been meaning to read and a couple I hadn’t heard of, so thanks for the recommendations!

So glad to have found your blog 🙂

    • I honestly couldn’t tell you the quality of the writing in The Maze Runner, because I was SO ENGROSSED in the story and characters. I seriously felt like I held my breath for that entire book. And The Book Thief — oh heavens. I was NOT PRETTY when I finished that book. Not. At. All.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • I read the NetGalley version too. The only weird thing about that version is that while the story is told from 2 POVs, the NG version won’t tell you when they switch. There’s not even a line break. They just switch. It can get a little disconcerting, but the quality of the book more than makes up for it.

  4. Love your post. I’ll admit I have read exactly none of the books on your list, but “The False Print” looks interesting.
I’m actually an author as well as a blogger. Looking for good readers to let me know their thoughts on my work or the work of my fellow authors. If you’re at all interested, I’d be willing to supply a digital copy of one of our novels. Pick one out at engenbooks.com if interested. I write YA thrillers.
    Again, love the post.
